Racial progress

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

Two of many basic truths from this remarkable man. How
do we apply them in the world of today?

Shining the light of reality on problems means learning.
Opening the ears and mind to other points of view. See it
through my eyes, walk a mile in my shoes. This can only
be done peacefully.

To communicate calmly when others are shouting is not
easy but someone must in order to start healing wounds.

Hatred comes from fear and fear is removed by getting
to know and trust others. We only accomplish that by
friendly association. Avoiding, demanding, criticizing
makes bad relations worse.

One thing we have in common is variety. No group is
entirely of one attitude. All groups are made of unique
individuals.

If we want friends instead of enemies, we need to start
by being friendly. It is never too late.

Ken
